Bayern München CEO Oliver Kahn has commented on speculation linking the German champions with Manchester United attacker Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt.
Although Bayern board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic has previously ruled out a move for Ronaldo, rumors have persisted that Bayern could be an option for the 37-year-old Portuguese star.
However, Kahn has now reiterated that Ronaldo will not be coming to Allianz Arena.
“As much as I appreciate Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the greatest in history, a transfer would not fit into our philosophy,” Kahn told Kicker.
With de Ligt, on the other hand, Kahn didn’t rule anything out, but hinted that Bayern are lacking the qualities that the Netherlands international possesses.
“We’re happy with the quality we have in central defense. But we can improve in terms of leadership, loudness and presence,” noted Kahn.
