Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayer Leverkusen are unlikely to complete a move for PSG’s Marco Asensio before the deadline.
A transfer is currently difficult for Leverkusen and it is reported that PSG are unwilling to let Asensio leave in the winter and the 28-year-old is also reportedly not interested in leaving the Parisian side.
This contradicts what Sky reported as they say that Asensio is willing to leave if a suitable offer arrives before the transfer deadline. Since joining from Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer, Asensio has struggled with game time at PSG having played 12 times in all competitions.
The signing of Asensio would add another dynamic to Leverkusen’s attack. In recent performances, they have shown that they struggle against opposition that defends deep highlighted against Borussia Mönchengladbach in their 0-0. Leverkusen have already addressed their lack of firepower in attack since Victor Boniface’s injury with the acquisition of Borja Iglesias on loan from Real Betis.
