Coming off a crushing 4-0 victory over Schalke 04 in Xabi Alonso’s first game in charge, Bayer Leverkusen welcome Porto to the BayArena in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Xabi Alonso hit the ground running as Bayer Leverkusen coach as he guided ‘Die Werkself’ to an impressive 4-0 victory over Schalke 04 in his first game in charge.
In what will be his first Champions League game as coach, the former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern midfielder will now look to continue in the same manner against Porto on Wednesday evening.
‘Die Werkself’ fell to a 2-0 defeat in Gerardo Seoane’s last game in charge last week and will be determined to avenge themselves to climb to second place in Group B.
However, compared to last week and Saturday’s win over Schalke, Leverkusen will have to manage without two of their key players, as Jeremie Frimpong and Robert Andrich are both suspended. Sardar Azmoun, Exequiel Palacios and Florian Wirtz remain sidelined for the Bundesliga side.
Porto, on the other hand, have no noticeable absentees, but David Carmo, Joao Mario and Mateus Uribe are just one booking away from getting suspended.
