Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati offered to Manchester United and Liverpool

Manchester United and Liverpool are among four Premier League clubs who have been offered the chance to sign Ansu Fati, reports Spanish outlet Sport.

Following injuries to several senior players, Fati was fast-tracked into the Barcelona first team at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, when he was just 16 years old.

On his second professional appearance, he became the youngest player to ever score for La Blaugrana, and the third-youngest scorer in La Liga history.

His breakthrough season was an incredibly promising one, despite Barcelona’s struggles on the pitch. The winger ended the season with eight goals in all competitions, including a fine late winner against Inter Milan in the Champions League.

He continued this form into the early stages of the following season, netting five in his first ten games. However, a knee injury put him out for the rest of the campaign.

Since then, the youngster has been unable to recapture his best form. This season, he has found himself stuck behind the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha, and Ferran Torres in the pecking order.

The Catalan giants have struggled to comply with La Liga’s financial fair play rules and must sell some players before bringing in new recruits. Consequently, Fati could be offloaded in an attempt to raise funds and make space for arrivals.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes has explored options in the Premier League. Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle United have all reportedly been approached with the possibility of a swoop for the winger.

Competition for places on the wings at Man Utd is already high, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Facundo Pellistri and Alejandro Garnacho all vying for minutes. However, with several of those players out of form, a new face would be welcome.

Liverpool also have plenty of players on the wings already. But with Roberto Firmino set to depart and Mohamed Salah turning 31 in the summer, another option could be necessary.

As for Arsenal, they already own two of the world’s best young wide players in Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, with Leandro Trossard and Reiss Nelson covering. A move for Fati likely won’t be the priority.

Despite his lack of game time recently, Fati ought to be an attractive prospect to any side. At just 20 years old, he remains one of the game’s most promising young forwards.

The forward has featured seven times for the Spain national team, making his international debut in September 2020.

He was part of Luis Enrique’s squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, featuring off the bench in the defeats against Japan and Morocco.
