Fans of La Liga leaders Real Madrid will no doubt be concerned by the latest word doing the rounds in the media, regarding one of the club’s most highly-regarded young talents.
The player in question? Paulo Iago.
Iago, for his part, is a 16-year-old midfielder, currently plying his trade with Real Madrid’s Juvenil A outfit.
The Spanish starlet has long been considered one of the standout talents in Los Blancos’ academy, tipped for a bright future with the club’s first-team down the line.
In turn, it has come as something of a surprise, over recent weeks, to see Iago heavily linked with an exit from Madrid.
Frustrated with what he deems to be failed promises when it comes to playing time with Álvaro Arbeloa’s Juvenil A outfit, the youngster, it is understood, is giving serious consideration to seeking out a new home for next season.
Diario Sport, meanwhile, point towards a number of clubs from the Premier League and Bundesliga alike as keeping a close eye on Iago’s situation.
Altogether more alarming for those of a Real Madrid persuasion, though, will be links with none other than the club’s arch rivals, Barcelona.
The same age as Blaugrana counterpart Lamine Yamal, Iago’s trajectory has long been linked to that of his fellow countryman.
Watching on as Barcelona’s young talents shine on the biggest stage, ‘Real Madrid’s Lamine Yamal’ is in turn no doubt increasingly envious of developments in Catalunya’s capital.
With a €13 million release clause in his Real contract, and the same representative as Lamine in the form of Jorge Mendes, could Iago join forces with his fellow starlet at Barcelona this summer?
