Barcelona presidential candidate compares Joan Laporta to Donald Trump

Victor Font, chief contender to Joan Laporta in the presidential elections at La Liga champions Barcelona, has turned heads across Spain and beyond this week.

As much comes after the 53-year-old drew comparisons between Joan Laporta, and American president Donald Trump.

Laporta is for his part fresh off bringing a close to his latest stint at the helm of the Camp Nou boardroom.

This came with a view to running for reelection over the weeks ahead.

Laporta has long represented something of a controversial figure, never afraid to speak his mind when faced by the media.

As alluded to above, though, early this week, it was the patron’s chief competitor for the role of Barca president who grabbed the headlines.

Victor Font, runner up for the Blaugrana presidency back in 2021, recently sat down for an interview with RAC1.

And during the discussion, Font took full advantage of the chance to take aim at Laporta, in sniping:

“Laporta lives in a parallel reality. Each day that passes, he resembles Trump more. There are more and more parallels between Trumpism and what’s happening around Laporta.”
