Barcelona on alert as Atlético Madrid star becomes increasingly frustrated

Those behind the scenes at Barcelona have been placed on high alert by recent developments at La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who highlight the situation of Julián Alvarez as central to why.

Frontman Alvarez was for his part left looking hugely frustrated once more on Tuesday evening.

This came after his Atlético side were condemned to nothing short of an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

En route to a 4-0 drubbing for the Rojiblancos, Alvarez was one of few members of Diego Simeone’s squad who could hold his head high based on performance.

This is not the first time this season that the Argentine has been let down by his teammates when it mattered most.

And if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then as much appears to be taking its toll on Alvarez.

As per a report from Sport:

‘The striker is beginning to be increasingly clear that if the Atlético project does not add up and cannot compete for titles, the best thing will be to look for another team in Europe. And Barça are very aware of this decision.’
