AJ Auxerre are keen to sign Strasbourg striker Sekou Mara (23) on loan, according to a report from L’Equipe. The Yonne side is expected to part ways with Lassine Sinayoko. The Malian striker, who has scored two goals in as many Ligue 1 games, is set to join RC Lens after the Artois side reached an agreement in principle with Auxerre, although the move is in jeopardy.
Losing Sinayoko would be a considerable blow for Christophe Pélissier’s Auxerre. AJA are therefore scouring the market for his replacement. The latter could be Mara. The former Southampton centre-forward is playing second fiddle at RC Strasbourg on the back of his €12m move from the Saints last year.
Mara only logged three goals in 27 games played in all competitions for the Alsatians. L’Equipe adds that Auxerre would be interested in a loan with an option to buy for Mara, who is under contract with RCSA until 2029.
