The plan is clear for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to leave Chelsea later in 2023, according to football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.
Writing in his exclusive CaughtOffside column the Daily Briefing, Romano made it clear that he 100% expects Aubameyang to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge in the near future after being cut from Graham Potter’s Champions League squad for the second half of this season.
The Gabon international has fallen out of favour after a lack of impact at Chelsea since joining from Barcelona in the summer, and it makes sense that his future already seems to be more or less settled.
Despite once being a star player and club captain at Arsenal, Aubameyang is clearly no longer at the level he was, and it’s surely best for everyone if his stay at Chelsea is a short one.
Romano has also commented on the interest from Barcelona in re-signing the 33-year-old during the January transfer window just gone.
“It was impossible for Barcelona to proceed due to FIFA rules, they like the player but nothing else because of official rules,” Romano explained.
“I think Aubameyang will 100% leave Chelsea in 2023, the plan is clear.”
