Last night Atlético Madrid suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in the sixth round of La Liga at the Estadio Metropolitano.
Mario Hermoso received two yellow cards in the space of two minutes and was sent off in the 91st minute of the game.
According to Marca, Los Colchoneros will appeal against Mario Hermoso’s second yellow card that led to his dismissal in a bid to ensure that his red card does not result in a suspension for their next game against Sevilla following the international break.
While Atlético Madrid agree that the first yellow was deserved, they do not believe that the second yellow should have been given. The club not only believe that the yellow card was unfair, but also argue that it prevented the team from pushing for the final equaliser with eleven men.
The club’s legal services will provide video evidence of the play which shows that Mario Hermoso barely touched Dani Ceballos for his second yellow card, demonstrating that the alleged push was not worthy of such a punishment.
