La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have earmarked a member of the defensive ranks at Saudi outfit Al-Nassr as a potential summer signing.
That’s according to Radioestadio Noche, who point towards Aymeric Laporte as the player in question.
Stopper Laporte is currently plying his trade in the Middle East, lining out alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mané with the aforementioned Al-Nassr.
The 31-year-old, though, is still held in high regard across Europe, with his performances in the colours of Spain making clear that Laporte has barely lost a step.
And as alluded to above, with as much in mind, Atlético Madrid have identified Laporte as a potential signing with a view to next season.
Whilst the focus of the Rojiblancos currently remains on first-choice defensive target Cristian Romero of Tottenham Hotspur, Laporte is considered a viable backup target.
As per Onda Cero’s Radioestadio Noche:
‘Laporte is a possibility for Atleti, but Cholo (Simeone) wants Cuti Romero.’
