The Athletic reports that Aston Villa have rejected an offer from VfB Stuttgart for attacking midfielder Emiliano Buendia.
The offer was a loan with an option to buy. Buendia is said to want to stay at Villa Park. Whether Stuttgart is trying again to sign the Argentine is yet to be seen.
Buendia spent the second half of last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, but most of his appearances came off the bench. Despite Leverkusen needing him to help fill the gap left by the then-injured Florian Wirtz.
Stuttgart have been looking for a creative type of midfielder after the departure of Enzo Millot to Saudi Arabia. So far, Stuttgart has tried to sign Fabio Vieira from Arsenal, but he proved too expensive. The Swabians also attempted to sign PAOK attacking midfielder Giannis Konstantelias, but the move collapsed after the 22-year-old signed a new contract at the club.
In the attacking position, Stuttgart have already brought back Tiago Tomas from Wolfsburg and signed Noah Darvich from Barcelona.
