Arsenal are tracking the situation of Chelsea forward Kai Havertz, according to The Telegraph.
The Gunners are monitoring the player, and they could swoop for him in the transfer window.
Arsenal would like to add him to their forward line ahead of next season.
However, Real Madrid are ahead of them in the race to sign the German international.
Los Blancos president Fiorentino Perez reportedly sees him as a future replacement for Karim Benzema.
Real Madrid want to sign Havertz, but Chelsea’s £70 million asking price is putting off Los Blancos and other potential bidders.
Clubs interested in the former Bayer Leverkusen man see his price tag as ridiculous.
On the other hand, Chelsea believe their demand is fair. The player has two years left on the five-year deal he signed when he joined Chelsea in 2020.
He helped the Blues win the UEFA Champions League, scoring a memorable winning goal.
Also, he was instrumental as the West Londoners won the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
However, Havertz never established himself as a top striker capable of leading the line for Chelsea.
The Aachen-born attacking midfielder scored only seven goals in 35 Premier League appearances this season. He missed 14 big chances.
Last season, he scored only eight while missing 12 big chances.
On his day, Havertz can link play better than most top strikers, using his lengthy body to shield away opposition from the ball. His technique allows him to find options and join with teammates.
However, sometimes that style becomes lackadaisical, and his erratic finishing only frustrates fans that know what he is capable of.
Moreover, Havertz has not indicated any interest in renewing his contract and is considering a move from Stamford Bridge.
It is worth noting that Real Madrid have not pulled out of the deal, especially as they struggle to take Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Copa del Rey champions are still in the race for Havertz and hope Chelsea will soften their stance.
Arsenal are monitoring the situation and might make a move if the 14-time Champions League winners cannot agree a deal with Chelsea.
