Arsenal ‘close’ to signing Kadioglu with ‘personal terms’ discussed

Arsenal have had another promising season under manager Mikel Arteta and have an outside chance of winning the Premier League heading into the final round of games.

Regardless of what happens, the hierarchy are expected to back the Spaniard with another spending spree. A new left-back could be one of the top priorities this summer.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jakub Kiwior have had turns starting in the position, but none have been consistent enough over an extended period of games.

Tomiyasu has probably been the best among the trio, but he has had injury concerns.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri now claims they could be close to landing another left-back in the form of Ferdi Kadioglu from Fenerbahce this summer.

Talks are already undergoing on the player’s side to find an agreement on personal terms ahead of a potential transfer approach.

Kadioglu could be Zinchenko’s replacement at Arsenal

The Turkish star can play in multiple positions. He started as an attacking midfielder and a right winger before becoming a right-back for the Istanbul giants.

The right-footed ace has since established himself at left-back. He has registered three goals and five assists from 40 outings this season.

Kadioglu has also impressed defensively with 5.9 duels and two tackles won per game alongside 6.6 ball recoveries. He has completed almost 87 percent of his passes.

Arteta may ideally want someone who can be reliable on both flanks. Kadioglu could be seen as a replacement for Zinchenko, who was once his favourite.

The Ukrainian was an undisputed starter for most of last season, but he is currently the third-choice left-back behind Tomiyasu and Kiwior after his poor performance against Aston Villa.

He is the most likely candidate to make way if Kadioglu joins the Gunners.
