Arsenal have begun the process of signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to the Daily Trust in Nigeria.
A deal worth £62 million has been agreed to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Arsenal need a regular goalscorer. Kai Havertz netted 15 goals this season before his injury, but his form was inconsistent. He was prone to squandering big chances.
Osimhen is a more reliable figure to lead the attack. The 26-year-old has tallied 23 goals and five assists in 29 games for Galatasaray on loan this term.
The Nigerian ace is more of a traditional striker, which is what the Gunners require.
Osimhen’s positional sense would make him an ideal fit to capitalise on the chances created by Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
The former Lille man, who was manager Jose Mourinho described as ‘world-class‘, has an impressive shot-to-goal conversion rate of almost 20 percent.
He has also excelled with his pressing and ability to hold up play with his duel-winning skills.
His addition to the Arsenal squad would boost their hopes of winning the Premier League next season.
