Alexis Sánchez‘s (34) agent, Fernando Felicevich, is currently in Marseille to discuss with the club’s management over an eventual contract extension for the Chilean international, according to a report from RMC Sport. The former Arsenal man is out of contract next June. However, his one-year contract with Marseille included an option for a further year. Sánchez is reportedly keen to extend his stay with Les Phocéens, and the same can be said from the club’s management in terms of wanting to keep him. The 34-year-old has scored 18 goals in 41 games played in all competitions with the Igor Tudor-led side.
Talks are expected to continue in the coming days between Felicevich and the club’s management. Marseille have, over the course of the season, ensured that relations with the Chilean’s representative are frequent, excellent and friendly. But negotiations could still become tense in the coming days, as OM continues to be in cost-saving mode. Thanks to his performances with Les Phocéens, Sánchez is understood to likely feel that he deserves improved terms on his current deal. Even though Marseille greatly appreciate their forward, they won’t break their wage structure to meet his salary expectations.
