Alexander Volkanovski Names ‘Piece of S***’ UFC Fighter He Truly Hates

UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, offered up his answer to the question of which fighter he can’t stand when talking to Josh Mansour on a recent episode of The Unscripted Show podcast.

The Aussie mixed martial artist, who most recently overcame Diego Lopes at UFC 314 by unanimous decision to bring his record to an impressive 27 wins and four losses, and in turn regain the vacant featherweight crown, has achieved widespread popularity over the years. This is thanks in part to his outspoken nature away from the Octagon, which was again on show when he answered the question about who he despised the most in the sport.

Alexander Volkanovski’s Illustrious UFC Career

Having achieved the title of champion after defeating Max Holloway way back in December 2019 at UFC 245, The Great defended his title on five occasions, including separate rematches against Holloway and defences against Brian Ortega and The Korean Zombie, Jung Chan-sung. His long-standing reign would finally come to an end at the hands of Ilia Topuria, however, back in 2024, before his return in Miami, Florida earlier this year.

Volkanovski undoubtedly has faced many ups and downs during his long and arduous career, the back-to-back defeats to Islam Makhachev and Topuria being the one that stings the most. After reclaiming the title, the 36-year-old admitted that if he had lost to his most recent opponent, Lopes, by way of knockout, he would have considered calling time on his career.

But the Australian has now put talk of early retirement well and truly behind him, as he looks to defend his title that has been on the line on eight separate occasions, boasting a record of seven wins and one loss in featherweight title fights.

Talking on The Unscripted Show, before an upcoming fight had been sanctioned, the 5ft 6in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt named American Colby Covington as the one man he loves to hate and went into detail as to why.

“One fighter I can’t stand? Ah mate yeah, Colby Covington, I mean that’s an obvious one, it’s an easy question.

“I’ll make it a little bit better for you. Colby, you’re a piece of s*** and I dare you to come say something to my face cause I’d love to slap you. He’s just a piece of s***.

“A lot of times (in UFC) you get idiots like him that take things too far, some of the things he has said, just like, no. There’s pushing a fight and then there are pieces of s***, and he’s one of them.”
