As reported by Abendzeitung, Bayern Munich loanee Alexander Nübel is no longer in the future plans at AS Monaco.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper was at the centre of one of the major transfer sagas this January. After Manuel Neuer was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a broken leg, it was speculated that Nübel would return to Bavaria.
However, after weeks of back and forth, Monaco were able to keep their current number one while Bayern signed Swiss international Yann Sommer from Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Abendzeitung cites French outlet L’Equipe which claims that Nübel is no longer in the future plans of Monaco. This is partially down to the player’s recent poor performances in the Europa League, most recently against Bayer Leverkusen.
Monaco will reportedly look into the transfer market this summer for appropriate alternatives. Nübel’s loan agreement with the Ligue 1 side will end this summer as planned.
