According to Fabrizio Romano, Al-Ettifaq are interested in signing Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré (31) as a replacement for Jordan Henderson (33). The former Liverpool captain has left the Saudi Pro League club after only six months after completing a deal to join Eredivisie giants Ajax.
Henderson’s departure has left Steven Gerrard looking for a senior option in central midfield and he has highlighted Doucouré as a potential option for his side. Romano reports that Al Ettifaq have already contacted the player’s entourage to try and agree personal terms with the Frenchman. Everton signed Doucouré from Watford for €22m in 2020.
Everton see Doucouré as a key player
The Toffees see the former Watford midfielder as a key player, and Doucouré has played a major part in Sean Dyche’s squad this season. With this in mind, Everton are unlikely to want to see the 31-year-old leave Goodison Park as they look to secure their Premier League status following a ten-point deduction.
