AC Milan beat Man Utd and Villarreal for loan move of Sergino Dest

AC Milan have reached an agreement with Barcelona over a loan move for Sergino Dest, reports Fabrizio Romano.

The United States full-back was placed on the chopping block after Xavi made it clear that he was not in his plans.

Manchester United and Villarreal were battling for his signature, with the former’s manager Erik ten Hag looking to reunite with his former Ajax protege.

However, it was later reported that the Yellow Submarine had moved ahead in the transfer race for Dest, with the Red Devils unable to sign him after failing to offload second-choice right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Serie A giants Milan have emerged out of nowhere to win the battle for the USMNT youngster.

Romano details that Rossoneri have agreed to a season-long loan with an option to buy him for around €20 million.

The Serie A giants appeared to be not in the market for a full-back, but an injury to Alessandro Florenzi in the league game against Sassuolo changed their plans.

Dest is expected to provide cover and competition for the first-choice right-back and Rossoneri captain Davide Calabria.
