A win promises top half for both teams.

Following narrow defeat against Bayer Leverkusen, Augsburg will hope for just their second away win this campaign. Mönchengladbach, however, are looking to win on Sunday evening to continue a superb run of home form.

Borussia Mönchengladbach

Borussia Mönchengladbach head into this game off a brilliant home win against a high-flying VfB Stuttgart side. Winger Robin Hack secured a brace to win the tie.

No club outside the top four has scored more goals this season (34) than Borussia Mönchengladbach have showing just how strong their attacking output has been this Bundesliga campaign.

However, only one team (Darmstadt) have conceded more than the 36 goals Borussia Mönchengladbach have let in this season which perhaps proves that their defence is unstable.

In a similar vein, Borussia Mönchengladbach are yet to win back-to-back games this Bundesliga season and have a golden opportunity to on Sunday.

Following the victory against VfB Stuttgart, Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Gerardo Seoane said: “Marvin (Friedrich) did not have an easy task against a mobile, fast striker but solved this situation very well.”

Team News

For Mönchengladbach, Ko Itakura is at the Asian cup and Jonas Olin is still out with a shoulder injury. Lukas Ullrich is missing with a shoulder problem and both Tomáš Čvančara and Julian Weigl are out with an ankle issue and a suspension respectively.

Manu Koné is a doubt due to a hip problem and both Alassane Pléa and Maximilian Wöber are also doubts.

Augsburg

Augsburg suffered heartbreak against Leverkusen last match day with a last minute Exequiel Palacios goal snatching a draw away from them.

In a similar fashion, this could be the first time this season Augsburg lose three in-a-row in the Bundesliga (granted both of their last ties were against top four opposition).

Striker Ermedin Demirović has provided thirteen goal contributions for Augsburg (including eight goals) and has been a part of just over fifty percent of all Augsburg goals this Bundesliga season.

Following defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, Augsburg coach Jess Thorup said: “We played a brilliant ‘Hinrunde’. I think this loss was a bitter pill for the team to swallow.”

For Augsburg, Niklas Dorsch is out with a yellow card suspension. Both Reece Oxford and Raphael Framberger are out with illness and a knee injury respectively. Tomas Koubek and Mads Pedersen remain doubts for the Sunday clash.
