The latest addition to Diego Simeone’s defensive ranks at Atlético Madrid has this evening been all but confirmed.
This comes with footage having come to the fore of Gabriel Paulista on his way to put pen to paper on terms with the capital giants.
Reports pointing towards former Arsenal stopper Gabriel taking his talents to the Wanda Metropolitano first came to the fore earlier today.
The Valencia brass recently came to the decision to bench the Brazilian indefinitely, owing to a clause in his contract which would activate an automatic one-year extension in the case of Gabriel being afforded a further four appearances.
With the 33-year-old maintaining an excellent reputation in Spain, La Liga rivals Atléti, in turn, have swooped to take advantage.
Gabriel, late on Tuesday, touched down in Madrid, ahead of travelling to the Rojiblancos’ headquarters.
From here, he is expected to sign a sign a short-term deal, through the upcoming summer.
A solid piece of business for Simeone and Atlético, but one which will undoubtedly see yet further questions asked of Peter Lim and the powers that be at the Mestalla.
