The DFB have this morning confirmed that Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha has withdrawn from the German national team due to a slight hip injury, with Hoffenheim’s Grischa Prömel called-up as a replacement.
It’s a first international call-up for Prömel, who joins Marvin Ducksch (Werder Bremen) and Janis Blaswich (RB Leipzig) as new faces in the national team. Prömel (28) has featured in all 11 Bundesliga games for Hoffenheim this season and his performances is just one reason why Hoffenheim are performing admirably with the Sinsheim club in sixth.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Dortmund with the ‘Englisch Woche’. Dortmund have played Werder Bremen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern Munich and Stuttgart in the Bundesliga with Champions League games against Newcastle United and a DFB Pokal tie against Hoffenheim played in midweek.
But not only has Nmecha withdrawn, Malick Thiaw is expecting his first child with his partner and will not travel with the team as planned, while Robin Gosens’ partner is also expecting a baby with the Union Berlin player being replaced by David Raum.
