According to L’Équipe, following Vincent Ponsot’s new role as General Director of OL Féminin, Lyon owner John Textor is ready to appoint a new sporting director at the Groupama Stadium. Vincent Ponsot previously assumed the role of general director of the men’s team but has now switched his attention to solely focus on developments at OL Women.
Many believe that the new sporting director’s predecessor, Ponsot, was ousted to a less important position. However, L’Équipe report that the former general manager has neither been ousted nor forced into his new position as General Director of Lyon Women.
L’Équipe are reporting that the American businessman is now ready to appoint a successor to Ponsot and that the successor has already been identified. The club’s new director of football is from a major European club with lots of experience. Although originally opposed to working with a sporting director, Textor now looks set to appoint one and revise the running of the football operations at the club.
