Sky Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Marcel Sabitzer’s availability for this evening’s “Top-Spiel” is in doubt.

Already definitely missing Giovanni Reyna, Julien Duranville, Jamie Bynore-Gittens, and Thomas Meunier and likely unable to turn to Karim Adeyemi and Felix Nmecha for the starting XI, Borussia Dortmund may be without their top pre-season performer this evening against Köln. Dortmund’s “Ruhrnachrichten” just reported that the Austrian midfielder wasn’t with the rest of the team as they travelled to the stadium on Saturday.

Sabitzer was selected as Dortmund’s “top winner” from BVB training camp by Germany’s Kicker Magazine; which traditionally selects one player from each club as the best pre-season performer. The 29-year-old was a certainty to start in BVB trainer Edin Terzic’s initial XI. Reasons for Sabitzer’s absence have not been made clear yet.
