Liverpool to make improved 2nd offer for Romeo Lavia

Franco-Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Premier League side Liverpool will return to Championship club Southampton in the coming hours with an improved bid for Romeo Lavia after having an initial proposal knocked back by the Saints for the player on Tuesday, worth a reported £37m.

The 19-year-old is understood to have agreed a provisional 5-year contract with LFC and is hoping to move back to the Premier League this summer.

The Saints are holding out for a minimum of £40m in a fixed initial fee, which represents the same number as the size of the buyback clause that the player’s former club, Manchester City, have, which is activated in June 2024.

Southampton believe that getting to that base figure with additional bonuses that could take an overall deal up to £50m + would represent a strong deal for a club that has just been relegated to the English 2nd division.
