Toronto FC sack head coach Bob Bradley after disappointing 2023 season

Toronto FC have announced that they have parted company with head coach and sporting director Bob Bradley.

The Major League Soccer side have also fired assistant coach and technical director Mike Sorber.

Bradley joined the Reds as their manager in November 2021 but failed to make a good start, leading his side to a disappointing 13th-place finish.

The 65-year-old was expected to bring improvements at the BMO Field this campaign but that hasn’t happened at all.

Injuries have played a part but the performances this term have been completely unacceptable from a team who have the highest wage bill in the league according to the MLSPA figures (as per The Athletic).

With only three wins from 20 matches, Toronto are now languishing in 14th in the MLS standings.

The disappointing results have prompted the hierarchy to sack Bradley, who also had managerial stints at Chicago Fire and Los Angeles FC.

The Reds have appointed Terry Dunfield as interim boss, with the Canadian boasting over 20 years of professional football experience.

Dunfield started his career as a midfielder in England, having stints at Manchester City, Bury and Shrewsbury Town before moving to Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC.

The 41-year-old transitioned into a coaching career following his retirement as a player. He joined Toronto FC as the manager of their under-17s team in 2017 but has now been handed the role of the first-team head coach.
