AC Milan are intensifying their efforts to secure the signature of Villarreal attacker Samuel Chukwueze.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Rossoneri directors held a crucial meeting with Chukwueze’s agents today.
The news has sparked excitement among Milan fans eager to see reinforcements on the right side of their attack.
They have lacked a reliable option on the right side, with Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers failing to perform up to par.
With the recent departures of directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, Milan’s talent scout Geoffrey Moncada took the lead in the meeting.
However, official negotiations with Villarreal have yet to commence. This initial encounter served as an opportunity to gather information and lay the groundwork for a potential deal.
Moreover, the meeting only lasted for approximately two hours. But Milan demonstrated their seriousness in pursuing the Nigerian international.
Chukwueze has been an influential figure for Villarreal and has attracted attention from several top clubs.
His contract will expire in June 2024, making this summer the ideal time for Villarreal to sell.
Real Madrid have also expressed interest in the 24-year-old, particularly after the departure of Marco Asensio to Paris Saint-Germain.
Although Chukwueze possesses an €80 million release clause, Milan intends to negotiate a lower fee for his services.
The attacker notched 13 goals and provided 11 assists in 50 competitive appearances for Villarreal.
Milan’s pursuit of Chukwueze reflects their determination to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
The right side of their attack has been an area that needed reinforcement. The potential addition of the speedy and skillful Nigerian could significantly enhance Milan’s attacking prowess.
If signed, he will inject new energy into the Rossoneri’s quest for success in domestic and European competitions.
Rafael Leao on the left and Chukwueze down the right is an exciting combination that could serve Milan boss Stefano Pioli well.
