Manchester United are interested in Inter Milan’s number one Andre Onana this summer, according to Gianluca DiMarzio.
The Manchester club is one of several clubs keeping an eye on the 27-year-old who has impressed in his debut campaign in Italy.
Onana has eight clean sheets in 22 Serie A appearances this term. He has successfully ousted Inter legend Samir Handanovic.
Also, Onana has kept six clean sheets in ten Champions League appearances for the Nerazzurri. No keeper has more.
Furthermore, he has helped them reach the semi-final of the competition, where they will face rivals AC Milan.
The former Cameroon international had already shown his Champions League pedigree with Ajax. He helped them reach the semi-final in the 2018/19 season.
His performances for Inter have attracted the attention of Man Utd, who are looking for a new keeper to provide competition for David De Gea.
The Spaniard has made four errors leading to goals this season. His sweeping and ball-playing abilities are questionable. Some higher-ups at the club have doubts about him.
De Gea will likely renew his deal which expires this summer, but the club wants to bring in capable hands.
Dean Henderson is out of action till August with a thigh injury, and he might not want to play for the club again. Tom Heaton’s contract expires this summer.
United need a keeper and have Onana on their radar. There are reportedly others on their watch, including Dominik Livakovic and Leopold Wahlstedt.
However, Inter Milan will demand nothing less than €50 million for Onana after signing him for free only a year ago.
Apart from Manchester United, Chelsea have shown interest in the Inter keeper. They are also looking to upgrade their goalkeeping position.
Although, there are reports that incoming Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino has other goalkeeping targets. This decision could clear the road for United to take Onana.
