Brendan MacFarlane has become a European Regional Scouting Manager at Premier League side Manchester City after leaving his role at Ligue 1 side Toulouse.
MacFarlane, a former writer for Get French Football News, became Brentford’s lead scout in France before taking on a role as head of recruitment of the Violets. In under two years at the club, Toulouse returned to Ligue 1, and they look set to remain there for next season. Toulouse are currently 13th in Ligue 1 and nine points above the relegation zone.
However, the Ligue 1 side will continue without MacFarlane, who departed from the club in mid-February. In a statement at the time of his departure, Toulouse spoke of their pride at having the club’s work noticed by some of the biggest teams in Europe and reiterated their appreciation for MacFarlane’s work in helping the club return to the French top flight.
MacFarlane said that he was leaving Toulouse to “jump into a new opportunity at a European club,” and his arrival at Manchester City, currently second in the Premier League, has been confirmed.
