Chelsea are scouting the South American markets in search of new talent for Graham Potter’s squad at Stamford Bridge, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
The Blues will be looking ahead to the January transfer market in a bid to secure Champions League football next season.

Chelsea transfer news – South American market
According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have agreed to a potential deal of around £67m to secure the signing of Palmeiras forward Endrick, with the 16-year-old set to move to the Bernabéu in 2024.
This will come as a blow to Chelsea, who were also suggested to be interested in the young starlet, as their recruitment team scour the South American market for the best young talent the continent has to offer.
Meanwhile, TEAMtalk report that Potter’s side are in a battle with Newcastle United to sign Vasco da Gama’s 18-year-old midfielder in Andrey Santos as the Blues set their sights on signing yet another young talent.
It is thought that Todd Boehly is looking at signing a number of the world’s most glamorous names at Stamford Bridge, with both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo being stars that could have potentially been considered, according to journalist Dean Jones who was speaking to GiveMeSport.
But Phillips has suggested that the club are currently scouring South America in search of talent off the European continent.
What has Phillips said about Chelsea’s transfer policy?
Phillips told GiveMeSport: “What I have been told is that Chelsea are going through the South American markets.
“They’re scouting over there at the moment. We see the links to Brazilian players.
“So, they’re scouting heavily in South America but after that, they are moving to mainland America as well.”
What is Chelsea’s current transfer policy?
After Boehly acquired Chelsea at the back end of last season, the club have made a variety of different transfer signings ranging from the £33m addition of 31-year-old Napoli and Senegal centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly to the £20m signing of Aston Villa and England U20 star Carney Chukwuemeka.
However, there does seem to be a specific focus on bringing in young players who the club can develop and improve, with four of the club’s eight summer signings all being aged 24 or under.
Therefore, the club’s scouting network in South America comes as no surprise, with the club aiming to snap up some of the globe’s best young talent before they become stars, to save themselves plenty of revenue in transfer fees.
