Germany’s preeminent footballing publication reports that second-place SC Freiburg are planning a January loan-out for long-term investment Hugo Siquet.

expensive investment for SC Freiburg to simply cut ties with over the coming transfer window. The 20-year-old nevertheless hasn’t been able to supplant fellow youngster Kiliann Sildillia at the right-back position. Since arriving in Breisgau last January, the Belgian youth international has made just three Bundesliga appearances; all of the bench.
A start in the meaningless final 2022/23 Europa League group stage fixture also left much to be desired. To date, Siquet has logged far more minutes for the SCF juniors in the 3. Bundesliga. It thus comes as no surprise that the Badeners are seeking a loan locale for the former Standard Liege standout. Germany’s Kicker magazine cites its own sources to claim that the club is working on a loan, though it remains unclear as to whether there’s interest from other German clubs.
Siquet’s estimated market value, once €7 million at the time of last year’s signing, currently sits at €3 million in the latest transfermarkt listings. Presumably, Freiburg would wish to secure a medium-term loan locale and pocket some modest loan fees.
