With the start of the 2022 World Cup is just around the corner, we take a look at how Germany could line up for their opener against Japan on November 23.
Starting from the back, Germany and Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer is set to start in goal.

RB Leipzig’s David Raum seems to have nailed down the left-back spot, with Antonio Rüdiger and Niklas Süle in line to be paired up in central defence.

It’s a bit more uncertain who will start on the right, with Thilo Kehrer seen as the top candidate to play ahead of Jonas Hofmann and Lukas Klostermann.

Joshua Kimmich and Ilkay Gündogan should start in the middle of the park, with Leon Goretzka pushing to come into the side at the expense of the latter.

With a number of players competing for attacking places, Bayern trio Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané look most likely to start behind Chelsea’s Kai Havertz, but Jonas Hofmann and Thomas Müller are also very much in contention.
