Speaking to Sky Germany, Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle has given an update on the future of Saša Kalajdžić.
“We are in good dialogue with Saša and his agent,” said Wehrle. “We would like to keep him at Stuttgart. He’s a very important player. It’s not certain that a player with one year left on his contract will definitely leave the club.
“There’s a clear agreement that Saša will not leave the club on a free transfer next year. So I’m assuming that if he doesn’t move, then he’ll extend the contract.”
This is also something that was echoed by sporting director Sven Mislintat, who said that should Kalajdžić remain at the club, then he’ll likely sign a new deal to avoid VfB missing out on a transfer fee.
Kalajdžić has interest from both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund as he enters the final year of his contract.
