Freiburg head coach Christian Streich has tested positive for Covid-19. Assistant coaches Lars Voßler and Florian Bruns have also returned positive tests ahead of their Europa League clash against Ligue 1 side Nantes on Thursday night.
Voßler has been positive for several days and missed the Bundesliga game against Mainz on Saturday and per Kicker, he could return tomorrow should he provide a negative test. Speaking to media, Streich spoke via a video link.
“Nantes played very well against Olympiacos and deservedly won,” said Streich. “They’re very good at football. They don’t have as many points in Ligue 1 as they would have liked. They have a technically good team.”
Freiburg will look to maintain their 100% start to this season’s Champions League following wins against Qarabag and Olympiacos.
Union Berlin are also without a head coach for tomorrow’s game vs Malmo after Urs Fischer tested positive for Covid-19.
