Roman Reigns’ Brutal Tweet After CM Punk’s Match

Roman Reigns appeared unimpressed with CM Punk’s title defence at WWE Elimination Chamber last night, sending a scathing message through X.

CM Punk took on the challenger, Finn Balor, during the WWE Elimination Chamber in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois. In a tough fight, the champion walked away bloodied and beaten, but with the World Heavyweight Championship still around his waist.

Immediately after the match, Reigns offered his opinion on his WrestleMania 42 opponent. The Royal Rumble winner wasn’t involved in the last WWE PLE before the flagship event in April, and so enjoyed it from the comfort of his own home.

It seems there wasn’t too much enjoyment, though, from The Tribal Chief. Immediately after his rival’s victory over Finn Balor, he took to X to say: “Not sure who looked more tired — the crowd or the champion. Enjoy this final month of relevancy.”

CM Punk’s Reaction to Roman Reigns’ Brutal Tweet

The tweet, seemingly taking a dig at the quality of the event, ended up going viral, being seen by almost two million people already. CM Punk was asked about Reigns’ remarks after his title defence, and mocked The Tribal Chief, saying: “He’s got time to tweet, but he doesn’t have time to come to Chicago.”

The Voice of the Voiceless continued his response to Reigns, defending the quality of the PLE: “Listen, Roman Reigns, second-highest arena gate in company history. And you’re not number one either. 19,346 people showed up in Chicago because I’m a fighting champion.”

Punk wasn’t finished there. He continued his war of words with the two-time Royal Rumble winner, mocking his rival’s lack of activity when discussing their upcoming match at WrestleMania 42.

“And I will travel to Las Vegas. And yeah, I’m gonna be tired, and yeah, I’m gonna be beat up, and I’m gonna be bandaged. But that keeps me sharp, on the edge, where I need to be. And for me, the action is the juice. You can sit at home, and we’re gonna call you Rusty Reigns when you show up in Las Vegas.”

Whether Reigns’ new nickname will stick remains to be seen. However, the two will go face-to-face on this week’s episode of WWE Raw ahead of their first ever singles match.

Randy Orton

In other news from the Elimination Chamber, CM Punk’s wife, AJ Lee, made her return to singles action for the first time in over a decade. She took on Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental title, and got the best of The Man, to walk away with the belt.

Meanwhile, it was Rhea Ripley and Randy Orton who had their hands raised in victory in the actual Chamber matches.
