After a brief substitute appearance against Hungary on Friday, Jamal Musiala (19) is now set to start for Germany against England in their final UEFA Nations League fixture on Monday evening.
Germany coach Hansi Flick confirmed that Musiala would start, saying the Bayern Munich player “probably wouldn’t be surprised by that.” Speaking last week, the 57-year-old praised Musiala’s technical ability, in particular his performance against the Netherlands.
Where Musiala plays for Germany is a different matter. The 19-year-old played as the six alongside Ilkay Gündogan against the Netherlands in March but is in excellent form this season for Bayern Munich in an advanced position, where he has scored four and created one in six Bundesliga games.
In other team news, Flick suggested that Marc-André ter Stegen is likely to keep his spot in goal, in place of Manuel Neuer. Die Mannschaft will be without Lukas Nmecha and Antonio Rüdiger. The former has a knee injury and has returned to Wolfsburg whilst Rüdiger is suspended after an accumulation of yellow cards.
