Luka Modrić hopes to be able to play until at least Euro 2024, report Mundo Deportivo.
Despite turning 37 this month, Modrić is showing no signs of slowing down and continues to be indispensable in the midfield of Real Madrid and Croatia.
In an interview, the Croatian national team’s doctor Zoran Bahtijarević revealed that Modrić has set himself the goal of playing in Euro 2024:
“Luka Modrić has decided to stay with the Croatian national team until Euro 2024.”
The midfielder’s contract is set to expire with Real Madrid in June 2023. However, given his plans to continue playing at the highest level, he is expected to renew his current deal by at least another year.
Retirement is not on his mind yet and according to the medical staff that overlook his fitness, Modrić is in good shape physically to continue playing.
Modrić is Croatia’s most capped player with 152 appearances.
