The
Columbus Crew SC have signed forward Wessam Abou Ali from Egyptian giants Al Ahly, sources tell GIVEMESPORT. The Columbus Dispatch’s Brianna Mac Kay first reported an agreement.
GIVEMESPORT can reveal the financial details: The Crew will pay a $7.5 million fee, plus $1 million in add-ons, sources say. Al Ahly will retain a 10% sell-on clause.
Abou Ali, 26, will be a designated player for Columbus. The Palestine international scored three goals for Al Ahly at this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.
Al Ahly finished last in Group A with two points (two draws, one loss) behind Porto, Inter Miami and Palmeiras.
The Danish-born striker has tallied 38 goals and 10 assists in 60 games in all competitions for Al Ahly, after joining from Swedish club Sirius for about $1.9 million in January 2024.
Abou Ali is a regular with the Palestinian national team. He represented Denmark at youth level.
The Crew have added to the team as the season went along, after making a blockbuster trade for attacking midfielder Daniel Gazdag in early April. They added French attacker Hugo Picard this summer already.
The Crew are currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, with 12 wins and 44 points through 24 games.
