Juan Mata trained with Galatasaray for the first time on Friday. The Turkish giants have signed the former Manchester United midfielder on a permanent deal.
Mata, 34, has 41 international caps for Spain and scored over 50 Premier League goals in spells with both with United and Chelsea.
The Spanish playmaker will add plenty of experience to the Turkish side, who are currently seventh in the Super Lig after five games.
Mata took to Twitter on Friday to say: “So happy to be here! Very proud to play for the most successful club in the country 🙏. Let’s goooo @GalatasaraySK”
“I feel so good. I am excited and very motivated. I’m grateful for being here. Everyone is being very friendly. I can’t wait to win with Galatasaray,” Mata told the club’s official channels.
“Everyone told me what a nice atmosphere this place has. I’m waiting for the moment when I will experience this. I can’t wait to fight in front of our fans. Galatasaray is the team with the greatest success in Turkey. It is also a club that has a place in the history of football. Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.”
Galatasaray have also signed Argentine striker Mauro Icardi on loan from PSG.
