Botafogo could receive 50% of Lucas Perri’s transfer fee if goalkeeper leaves

Interest in Olympique Lyonnais goalkeeper Lucas Perri has been growing amid a backdrop of financial uncertainty. The club need to raise €200m in funds in order to reverse their administrative relegation to the second tier of French football, with the result of their appeal expected to be announced later today.

L’Équipe have reported that Premier League clubs are interested in the goalkeeper, with several teams in the market for a new shotstopper. Le Progrès also notes that Galatasaray have been keeping tabs on him, while AS Roma appear to have passed on him.

However, if the goalkeeper were to leave, his former club Botafogo could receive 50% of the transfer fee, Le Progrès notes that in the press release announcing his arrival (and also Adryelson, who joined at the same time in a double transfer), that Lyon’s sister club may be entitled to a significant share of any future fee.

Lyon wrote, “The arrivals of goalkeeper Lucas Perri and central defender Adryelson from Botafogo for €3.25m and €3.58, respectively, to which a 50% interest on any future transfer may be added.”

Les Gones will hope that no interest will be added to a transfer if Perri were to leave, as the goalkeeper could be sold for around €23m – a significant fee when considering the current financial strains.
