Nottingham Forest have agreed a new contract with Neco Williams, tying the defender down until June 2029.
The Welsh international has committed his future to the club in a move seen as a key part of manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans for next season.
Williams had just one year left on his previous deal, but positive talks with the club’s hierarchy led to a swift agreement on fresh terms.
The 23-year-old joined Forest from Liverpool in 2022 for a fee of around £17 million and has since become a vital part of the squad.
He enjoyed arguably his best season last term, contributing two goals and an assist while maintaining consistency at both ends of the pitch.
His ability to play in various roles across the backline has made him a valuable asset for Nuno, especially during a campaign disrupted by injuries.
The long-term extension reflects Forest’s desire to build around key performers rather than overhaul the squad this summer.
It also comes as talks continue with Ola Aina, who is expected to sign a new long-term contract of his own.
Aina triggered an option to stay for another season after joining on a free transfer, but Forest want to secure his services beyond that.
Together, the pair played an important role in Forest’s solid finish to the 2024/25 campaign and will be central to their ambitions next season.
The club view their renewals as critical steps in maintaining squad continuity and avoiding the kind of late-window scramble that has hampered them in the past.

For Nuno, ensuring stability across his defensive line is a priority, particularly with the tactical demands of the upcoming season.
Tying down Williams to a five-year deal signals Forest’s intent to keep their top performers and build on the progress made under the current regime.
With pre-season approaching, Forest are eager to complete key business early — and locking in one of their standout players is a major statement of intent.
Williams’ new deal is expected to be officially announced in the coming days, confirming his status as a long-term pillar of the project at the City Ground.
