Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has on Tuesday revealed who he feels stood out as the club’s standout performer in their weekend meeting with city rivals Atlético Madrid.
The latest edition of the Madrid Derby of course played out on Sunday night, at the Wanda Metropolitano.
When all was said and done, the spoils were shared between the sides, after Éder Militão’s 2nd-half opener was cancelled out by Ángel Correa deep into injury-time.
Speaking in his latest pre-match press conference ahead of Real’s Champions League showdown with Lille on Wednesday night, the subject of the derby, in turn, was put to the aforementioned Carlo Ancelotti once more.
Specifically, the Italian was asked about the performance of midfield veteran Luka Modrić, who rolled back the years with a trademark display in the middle of the park.
And Ancelotti went on to reveal his opinion that Modrić, in fact, stood as his side’s ‘best player’ against Atlético:
“Luka Modrić? Luka’s level against Atlético was very high. Luka was our best player against Atlético for me.”
