Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush has returned from international duty with Egypt after suffering with a knee injury.
The lateral ligament in the knee has been affected after the 25-year-old overstretched during the match against Cape Verde in the first round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which resulted in his side winning 3-0 and Marmoush scoring the second goal for the Pharaohs.
Marmoush was set to play tonight against Botswana in another qualifying match tonight however he has now returned home to Frankfurt after flying back on Monday night.
The national team discussed the severity of the player’s injury with Eintracht Frankfurt and it was decided that he should travel urgently in order to receive treatment and start recovery immediately.
However Frankfurt have said that Marmoush was treated today and trained individually as it was just a precautionary measure.
Frankurt’s next game is against Wolfsburg on Saturday which Marmoush is currently a slight doubt for.
