Serie A side Atalanta are closer than ever to complete the signing of Genoa’s Mateo Retegui.
According to a report by Tutto Atalanta, Atalanta and Genoa are processing the final details regarding the transfer of Mateo Retegui to the Bergamo-based club. Negotiations were underway between the two clubs since the start of the transfer window and it looks like talks have drawn to a conclusion now.
La Dea have agreed on a €22 million fee with the Grifone for the 25-year-old and personal terms are not expected to pose a problem.
Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini asked for a natural striker ahead of the new season and Retegui’s arrival is set to settle that request. The club is scheduled to feature in the new format of the Champions League this upcoming campaign and they will need a deep squad in all departments to progress in the competition.
