Napoli make initial contact for Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee

Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee has been close to a return to the Serie A in the last few months, as Juventus and Fiorentina stepped forward for his signature. It is Napoli who are keen on signing the striker now.

AreaNapoli report that Max Allegri’s side are closely monitoring the Dutchman, who scored for the national team during the international break.

This has also led to Napoli making initial contact for Zirkzee, as they have spoken to Manchester United about a possible deal. The discussions have been largely tentative but the situation could take shape further in the next few weeks.

Allegri has expressed a positive opinion about the striker too, having not been too impressed by Lorenzo Lucca, who hasn’t exactly impressed. The Dutchman can come in as a replacement for the Italian, unless other clubs also join the race.

Zirkzee should push for transfer

Zirkzee’s career has clearly stagnated at Manchester United and he needs a club where is the centrepiece of the project. That is why he should be seeking an exit actively, especially as he has now returned to the fold for the national team, which comes as encouragement that he should be playing more than he is at Old Trafford.
