As reported by Bild, it is becoming increasingly likely that Hamburg striker Robert Glatzel will stay at the club, with his release clause set to expire on Saturday.
The clause, valued at €2.5 million, has not yet attracted any serious negotiations from other clubs. However, original interest did arrive from VfB Stuttgart as the Swabians look to replace Serhou Guirassy should the 28-goal forward depart. This interest has since cooled.
After returning from his holiday, Glatzel is expected to discuss his future with new Sporting Director Stefan Kuntz. However, the striker has indicated that he will only leave for a team that meets his sporting expectations, making his departure increasingly unlikely.
Since joining from Cardiff City in 2021, Glatzel has been instrumental in Hamburg’s repeated promotion efforts, scoring 22, 19, and 22 goals in consecutive 2.Bundesliga seasons. Despite his contributions, Hamburg are yet to secure promotion back to the top flight.
With Glatzel turning 30 this year, his chances of returning to the Bundesliga are diminishing, having only played one season of Bundesliga football with Mainz in 2020-21.
