Crystal Palace could be a “comfort move” for out-of-favour Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the January window, transfer expert Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT.
Interest around the defender continues to grow ahead of the January window, with a number of Premier League sides expected to compete for his signature.
What’s the latest news on Crystal Palace and Wan-Bissaka?
A report in the Manchester Evening News suggests that Wan-Bissaka has been given the green light to leave the club in the upcoming January window.
Wan-Bissaka was the subject of much transfer speculation in the summer window, but was denied a move by United due to a lack of time available to find a replacement.
West Ham United and Crystal Palace were the two sides interested and it looks as if the London-based duo will slog it out for his signature once again in January.
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth recently told GIVEMESPORT that Wan-Bissaka isn’t involved in Erik ten Hag’s plans at United, with Portuguese international Diogo Dalot the current first choice.
The former Palace defender arrived at Old Trafford in 2019 for a reported fee of £45 million, but has since failed to live up to the expectation.
As per Transfermarkt, Wan-Bissaka has featured over 120 times for the Red Devils, but is yet to make a start of any kind this season.
Registering just four minutes of league football this term, it appears Wan-Bissaka’s time at Old Trafford is over, with his former employers Palace emerging as a viable target.
What has Jones said about Wan-Bissaka?
At just 25 years old, Wan-Bissaka still has plenty of time in the game ahead of him and transfer insider Jones has tipped the defender to return to Selhurst Park.
“I still think some things might emerge yet,” Jones told GMS. “Maybe even Crystal Palace.
“And it might be he looks for something like that. A comfort move like that, which can get him going again.”
Who else is targeting Wan-Bissaka in January?
As was the case in the summer, West Ham are keen on Wan-Bissaka’s services, with David Moyes looking to sure up his leaky Hammers defence.
In the same report from the Manchester Evening News, it was revealed West Ham’s hopes could be boosted by a close working relationship with Wan-Bissaka’s agents, Unique Sports Management.
Elsewhere, journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Wolverhampton Wanderers are another Premier League side interested in Wan-Bissaka.
A recent report in The Times suggested new Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui could be eyeing up six new signings in the January window, with United’s Wan-Bissaka on the club’s radar.
Interestingly enough, part of Lopetegui’s plans is to target British players who are familiar with the Premier League and Wan-Bissaka certainly fits that particular mould.
