Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is still attracting enquiries from other clubs ahead of the transfer window slamming shut next month, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Thomas Tuchel has overseen a hectic summer of business but is running out of time to add new names to his squad and potentially ship others out of the exit door.

What is the latest on Conor Gallagher?

Tuchel has insisted for a while now that he has no intention of letting the 22-year-old leave before the end of the window.

However, Gallagher remains a man in demand. It is understood that Crystal Palace are hoping to tempt him back to Selhurst Park for a second spell with the promise of consistent game time in the lead-up to the Qatar World Cup.

Meanwhile, The Sun have reported that Newcastle United have made the £17,000 per-week midfielder their number one target for the remainder of the window.

The publication states that the Magpies have turned to the Chelsea ace after being knocked back in their pursuit of James Maddison, with the Blues demanding £40 million for his signature.

Transfer insider Dean Jones has also previously told GiveMeSport that West Ham are ‘really interested’ in signing the four-cap England international this summer.

He says that the Hammers feel he could replace the energy previously supplied by Jesse Lingard, while Armando Broja remains on their radar too.

What has Phillips said on Gallagher’s future?

Phillips has detailed that the player himself is the subject of plenty of interest from other clubs this summer.

He also states that his representatives are continuing to talk to the club themselves about their client’s future, to ensure their stance has not changed, as well as potential suitors.

Phillips told GIVEMESPORT: “He is having enquiries. His people are making enquiries, just in case. It will be interesting to see what happens.”

Will Gallagher play regularly at Chelsea?

With N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic both injured, Gallagher stepped up to make his full Chelsea debut on Sunday afternoon against Leeds at Elland Road.

It did not go to plan, however, with the Blues falling to a shock 3-0 defeat, while Gallagher was substituted just after the hour mark for Christian Pulisic.

What happens next may ultimately come down to Gallagher’s priorities. Does he feel it is better for his career to play regularly for a team lower down the table? Or is there more value in the occasional start and cameo for a Champions League side like Chelsea?
