Everton have been boosted in their hopes of keeping Amadou Onana at Goodison Park as the sought-after star now ‘wants to fight’ to retain the Toffees’ Premier League status, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has told GiveMeSport.
The Toffees, who are expected to appoint Sean Dyche as their new manager, are in serious danger of dropping into the Championship and find themselves in the relegation zone.

Everton transfer news – Amadou Onana
According to The Telegraph, Everton have rejected an opening proposal from Chelsea as they look to retain Onana ahead of continuing to fight for their future in the top flight.
The report suggests the west Londoners sensed an opportunity after Frank Lampard was sacked as the Toffees’ manager earlier this week and were willing to offer a number of players on loan as part of the bid.
It is understood that Onana decided against pushing for a move to Stamford Bridge despite negotiations being opened over a switch to Chelsea.
Premier League leaders Arsenal and Newcastle United have also expressed an interest in signing the central midfielder.
But respected journalist Pete O’Rourke recently told GiveMeSport that Everton will not want to sanction Onana’s exit ahead of the fast-approaching transfer deadline.
What has Fabrizio Romano said about Onana?
Romano understands that Everton are desperate to retain Onana’s services and he is not expecting a move to be completed.
The transfer guru believes the Belgium international is keen to see out the remainder of the campaign with the Merseyside outfit.
When asked about the possibility of Onana remaining with the Toffees, Romano told GiveMeSport: “The answer is very strong. Everton want to keep the player.
“Also, I feel the player really wants to fight for Everton until the end of the season.”

Should Everton sell Onana before the deadline?
According to Sofascore, Onana has averaged 2.6 tackles, 1.2 clearances and 0.9 interceptions per Premier League outing this season.
Those statistics emphasise that although Everton have struggled and find themselves in a relegation dogfight, the 21-year-old has made an impact since his £33million switch from French side Lille last summer.
Onana has made 20 appearances in his new surroundings, racking up two goal contributions along the way.
The former Hamburg man has been handed an average match rating of 6.77 by WhoScored in Premier League fixtures, which is only bettered by James Tarkowski, Mason Holgate and Jordan Pickford in the Everton squad.
Onana still has four-and-a-half years remaining on his £38,000-per-week contract and Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri would be making a huge mistake if he opted to sanction his departure.
